De. Mohamed Shafiq

De Mohamed Shafiq qualified as a Doctor from the University of Liverpool, United Kingdom, in 1996 and became a General Practitioner in Primary Care (Family Medicine) in 2004. He has worked extensively in deprived areas in the UK, and has also attained a specialism in Addiction Medicine, becoming Clinical Lead of a community Drug and Alcohol Service in 2015. In this role he initiated ambulatory detoxes for those people who had unfortunately developed a dependency to prescribed opioid medication, with the main benefit of an ambulatory detox being that it does not require inpatient admission and there is limited ongoing clinical involvement. Currently Dr Shafiq practises as a GP in London and Coventry, runs Substance Misuse clinics in Wales, and is an appraiser of GPs for NHS England.
