About Melinda Nelson
Melinda was born and raised in Sarasota, FL and attended University of Florida in Gainesville for her undergraduate degree in Food Science and Human Nutrition. Afterwards, she decided to migrate even further south to Miami and graduated with a MCMS from the Barry University Physician Assistant program in December of 2004. She has since worked in Emergency Department, Hospitalist (inpatient Internal Medicine), Urgent Care, and Primary Care settings across the United States. She served in the United States Air Force for 3 years alongside her husband, but decided she needed to step back once her first daughter was born with a heart defect requiring open heart surgery at the age of 3 months. While this was a difficult experience, Melinda feels that it allowed her to grow as a person and has made her an overall more compassionate provider. Her husband remained in the military, taking them from VA to AK to TX. Melinda now homeschools her 3 daughters, works part time in a local urgent care, and is excited to take care of all of your medical needs. She loves talking to patients, getting to know them, and working together to find the root cause of the problem. Melinda believes that proper nutrition, exercise, and self care working alongside modern medicine is the key to improving your overall health and happiness!
